Welcome to the Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences

Dr. Ryan Gantner I think this is an extraordinary place to study Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, and graduate work in Mathematics/Science/Technology Education. Whether you want to pursue a career as an actuary or software engineer, analyst or programmer, statistician or teacher – our programs will meet your needs.

The Department’s programs emphasize critical thinking, problem solving, and communication while stressing interdisciplinary learning.

Our students find themselves in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. They work together on course projects, are hired as tutors in the Math Center, participate in and take leadership roles in campus clubs, and find employment on campus with the Office of Information Technology.

Each of the majors in the Department has interesting strengths.  The Computer Science major builds upon its strengths in computer security to position its graduates to obtain competitive jobs upon graduation.  The Statistics major includes an internship program where students apply theory to practice and build experience with local businesses.  The Mathematics major includes an option for those interested in pursuing actuarial mathematics as well as paths for future mathematics teachers.  Come with an enthusiasm for learning and you will be able to do great things.
